Secret forest

Gorące dni ostatniego tygodnia najchętniej spędzałam pod szczelnym parasolem z gałęzi drzew. Ciężko znoszę upały w mieście i z chęcią wyjeżdżam za miasto jak tylko nadarza się do tego okazja. Nakładam bawełnianą sukienkę, spryskuję się specyfikiem na komary i kleszcze i zmierzam w głąb lasu. A wy jak radziłyście sobie z upałem? Odetchnęłyście z ulgą, że nastało ochłodzenie?

I’ve spent preferably last hot days under a tight umbrella of branches of trees. I hardly bear heatwave in the city, so I catch every opportunity to go to the countryside. I put on a cotton dress, take anti-mosquito lotion and go deep into the woods. And you? How did you handle with dog-days? Are you happy that cold snap has come?

JFK vs USA

Ostatnio po wysłuchaniu i przeczytaniu wielu pochlebnych recenzji, kupiłam książkę Stażystka Mimi Alford. Nie jest ze mnie wyjątkowo oczytany człowiek, raczej przeciwnie lektura musi mnie bardzo zainteresować, żebym dobrnęła do końca i tak właśnie było w tym przypadku. Zdawało mi się, że zbyt szybko dotarłam do ostatniej strony i byłam bardzo zawiedziona, że to już koniec. Nigdy szczególnie nie interesowało mnie życie 35. Prezydenta Stanów Zjednoczonych, ale przyznaje lubię czytać o sekretach i intrygach z życia znanych osób. I ta książka jest właśnie o tym. Opowiada jaki tak naprawdę był prezydent Kennedy na co dzień i jak bardzo (nad)używał swojej władzy. Ponad rok z jego życia szczegółowo opowiada dziewczyna, która przez serię różnych zbiegów okoliczności trafia do łóżka z najpotężniejszym człowiekiem świata. Książka jest także o tym jakie konsekwencje na całe życie tej dziewczyny miały chwile spędzone u boku JFK.
Stażystka obudziła we mnie fascynacje Stanami Zjednoczonymi i ludźmi z nimi związanymi.
Zawsze zastanawiam się w czym tkwi fenomen Stanów Zjednoczonych. Czy jest inne państwo o życiu w którym marzy tyle osób na całym świecie? Może sekret tkwi właśnie w niezwykłych historiach ludzi związanych z tym krajem.
Odsyłam was do lektury Stażystki a ja tym czasem zamykam oczy i wyobrażam sobie, że leże na trawce w Central Parku, a może pod literką H na wzgórzach Hollywood, hmm trudna decyzja;)

PS. Worek ze zdjęć był kiedyś częścią ręcznika plażowego. Mama go odpruła a ja wszyłam końce sznurka do worka tak, że powstał plecak.

Lately, after listening and reading a lot of flattering book reviews, I’ve bought Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath by Mimi Alford. I’m not realy into books, quite the contrary, namely, a book must really interest me to wade me through the end and this time it was. I felt I get to the last page too fast, I was really disappointed when it came to the end. I have never found the life of the 35th President of the United States really interesting but I must admit that I love reading about secrets and intrigues of famous people’s lives. This book is about it. It says the truth about who John Fitzgerald Kennedy was in everyday life and how he (mis)used his power. More than a year of his life in White House is told by one girl who by many circumstances got to bed with the most powerful man on the Earth. The book is also about the price that the girl paid in her future life for the time spent with Mr. President.
Once Upon a Secret:.. rouse in me fascination for Uniated States of America and the people from this country. I was always wondering what the phenomenon of the USA is. Is there any country in the wide world in which so many dream to live in? Maybe the secret is in the extraordinary stories of people who lived and live there.
I recommend you to read Once Upon a Secret:… yourselves when I close my eyes and imagine I’m lying on the grass in Centarl Park, or maybe below the letter H on Hollywood Hills, hmm it’s such a difficult decision ;)

PS. The sac in the pictures was a part of the beach towel, my mom unsew it and I sewed the strings to the sac so, finally, I have a backpack.

The dress of this summer

W ostatnich latach w mojej garderobie królują sukienki. Szczególnie w okresie letnim jest to mój ulubiony rodzaj ubrania. Przeglądając zdjęcia z kilku ostatnich wakacji zauważyłam, że każde lato należy do innej sukienki, którą noszę praktycznie bez przerwy. W zeszłym roku, była to kremowa sukienka w różowe kwiaty na ramiączkach, zebrana w talii, z falbankami nad biustem. Dwa lata temu straciłam głowę dla dzianinowej sukienki za kolano, odcinanej pod biustem z motylkowymi rękawkami i sporym dekoltem, w moim ulubionym turkusowym kolorze. Mimo, że to lato dopiero się zaczęło wiem, że sukienka, którą widzicie poniżej będzie w tym roku numerem jeden. Kilka tygodni temu wypatrzyła ją dla mnie koleżanka (dziękuje Skarbie:*) podczas łowów w lumpeksie i od tamtej pory się z nią nie rozstaje. Ma piękny kwiatowy wzór, świetny krój, a do podszewki przyszyta jest tiulowa falbanka. Do tego jest bawełniana, a w lecie jest to duży plus. Jednak najlepsze jest w niej to, że poprzez zmianę dodatków można ją wystylizować praktycznie na każdą okazje. Na mało zobowiązujące spotkanie np. garden party u znajomych noszę do niej koszyk i płaskie buty, natomiast na wesele założyłabym do niej szeroką satynową szarfę, małą błyszczącą torebkę i czółenka w kolorze fuksji, a tu jestem w drodze na lody w leniwe niedzielne popołudnie.

In the last few years number one of my wardrobe are dresses. Especially in summer, dresses are such piece of clothing that I wear most often. Looking through pictures from the last summers I’ve recognised that every summer belonged to a different dress, that I wore all the time. Last year it was a cream-colored dress with a pink floral print, shoulder straps and frilled neckline, gathered in the waist line. Two years ago I was in love with knitwear dress, cut in the waistline, short-sleeved and low neckline in my favorite turquoise color. Although this summer has just begun I know that the dress that you see below will be my number one this summer. Few weeks ago my girlfriend saw it during our thrift shopping and from that day I wear it all the time. It has a beautiful floral print, a great cut and linning have tulle frill at the bottom. Moreover it’s made of cotton and in the summer it’s a great advantage. The best thing about the dress is that I can wear it almost on every ocassion, changing only accessories. For casual meeting, for example garden party I wear it with flats and basket-bag, whereas for a wedding and reception I would wear it with wide satin sash, small sparkly purse and fuchsia pumps, here I’m on the way out for ice creams on lazy Sunday afternoon.
